Piccolino by DeCicco & Sons: A New Neighborhood Market

A smaller grocery format with fresh food and a central kitchen at its heart.

Following the opening of its Greenwich store, DeCicco & Sons is developing Piccolino, a new small-format neighborhood market in Scarsdale, New York. Working with Interstore and Schweitzer, the family-owned retailer is translating its Italian food heritage into a concept with its own identity.

Fresh food at the center

The store layout begins with fresh produce and places a central kitchen at the heart of the space. Designed as both a visual landmark and a food destination, the kitchen brings together pizza, bakery specialties, deli service and sushi preparation. Compact meat and seafood counters combine service areas with visible preparation and more self-service options. A dedicated craft-beer section gives another DeCicco specialty its own presence.

A distinct identity for Piccolino

Interstore developed the store design, graphic concept and custom-designed furniture. Deep green, bronze accents, patterned tiles and warm wood define a cohesive visual language, carried through departmental signage and in-store graphics. The design draws on the DeCicco family's Italian roots while establishing a new look and feel for the smaller format.
